CentraState Medical Center is currently seeking a Nurse Manager for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. This leadership role involves supervising, coordinating, and actively participating in a range of diagnostic, invasive, and angiographic procedures performed on both inpatient and outpatient populations within the Invasive Cardiovascular Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in the insertion of catheters and patient monitoring.
  • Administers and coordinates technical activities involved in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of the catheterization equipment and maintains record of protocol.
  • Supervises and provides assistance in emergency patient care.
  • Coordinates evaluation and care of patient pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post procedure, including supervision of education and observation for untoward effects.
  • Assists in policy development in accordance to JCAHO and DHSS standards.
  • Compiles, analyzes and reports ongoing data required for state licensure of the Cath Lab, as well as statistical and performance initiatives.
  • Assists in determining fiscal requirements and monitors budgetary operational expenses, revenues and supply inventory.
  • Responsible for department work schedule, delegation of assignments, and proper staffing levels.
  • Assists in personnel actions including performance appraisals, vacation scheduling and other duties incidental to work.
  • Develops and implements a professional growth plan for each staff member by enforcing attendance at appropriate in-service training sessions, encouraging staff to attend outside seminars and assigning duties to maximize development.
  • Monitors nursing staff compliance and implements performance improvement initiatives regarding documentation of pain assessment intervention, follow-up, re-assessment and education.
  • Plans and facilitates unit based education to maintain and enhance the clinical competency of the nursing staff.
  • Establishes and implements standards of care based on evidenced-based nursing practice and evaluates patient care through the application of the nursing process and compares the delivery of the care to the established standard(s).
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the range of care needed based on the age of the patients cared for. Demonstrates knowledge of growth, development and/or adult health throughout the life span as appropriate to the job performed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the needs of the age of the patients cared for.
  • Provides considerate respectful care focused upon the patients' individual needs.
  • Affirms the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law.
  • Assists the patient in the exercise of his/her rights and informs the patient of any responsibilities incumbent upon him/her in the exercise of those rights.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. 
  • Master's degree required within three years of accepting the position.
  • Critical care experience, clinical cardiology, interventional radiology, perioperative or closely-related field for at least 3 years.
  • Current endovascular/cardiac catheterization experience required or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
  • Current NJ RN License required. 
  • ACLS Certification required. 
  • CPR Certification required.
