Job Description

Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Transfer Partnerships is responsible for developing and maintaining transfer pathways and articulation agreements between St. Cloud State University and two-year partner institutions to support enrollment growth and student success. This position ensures the accuracy, alignment and ongoing maintenance of transfer agreements by monitoring curriculum changes and coordinating updates across academic departments and partner colleges. This role improves the transfer student experience by identifying and removing barriers, supporting advising and outreach efforts, and using data to inform partnership effectiveness and process improvements. This position serves as an operational leader supporting and advancing the strategic partnership initiatives led by the Director of Transfer Partnerships and Collaboration.

1. Transfer Partnership Development and Management (25%)

The position serves as SCSU's primary operational lead for building and maintaining relationships with community and technical colleges. This includes identifying institutions with strong enrollment potential, developing new transfer agreements, maintaining existing partnerships, and facilitating collaboration between partner colleges and SCSU academic units. The role works closely with deans, faculty, advisors, and enrollment staff to establish course equivalencies, degree-completion pathways, and partnership initiatives that increase transfer student enrollment and success. The position also acts as a central contact for partner institutions and helps resolve issues affecting transfer students or partnership effectiveness.

2. Curriculum Alignment and Transfer Barrier Reduction (20%)

A major responsibility is ensuring that academic programs remain transfer-friendly and aligned with Minnesota State transfer initiatives. The position collaborates with faculty and academic departments to review curriculum, identify transfer obstacles, establish or revise course equivalencies, and develop stackable credentials or certificate pathways. It also advances Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) opportunities, including military credit initiatives, to improve access for adult learners and underrepresented populations. The role stays informed about statewide transfer policy changes and helps prepare the institution to respond effectively.

3. Data Analysis, Assessment, and Partnership Evaluation (20%)

The Assistant Director uses enrollment and student success data to evaluate the effectiveness of transfer pathways and partnerships. Responsibilities include collaborating with Institutional Research and Enrollment Management units to analyze trends in transfer enrollment, retention, graduation rates, time-to-degree, and pathway utilization. The position identifies strengths and weaknesses in existing agreements, recommends improvements, manages transfer agreement documentation, and ensures agreements remain current. The role also leads assessment and research efforts to better understand transfer student needs and inform strategic enrollment decisions.

4. Transfer Advising and Student Support (20%)

The position provides pre-program advising to prospective and admitted transfer students, helping them understand admissions requirements, degree options, transfer credits, and career pathways. The role works collaboratively with advisors at community colleges and SCSU to ensure students receive accurate guidance throughout the transfer process. Responsibilities include participating in advising and registration events, responding to transfer inquiries through CRM sy
