Job Description
The Focus Features Finance team is looking to hire an ambitious Senior Financial Analyst (SFA), who as part of their core responsibilities, will directly partner with the Focus marketing & distribution teams to help optimize and track the marketing investment required to support the crucial theatrical launch of its domestic releases. Additionally, the role involves FP&A and controllership duties, including P&L forecasting, analysis & management of monthly financial close, and working closely with Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) Finance. The position will report directly to the Senior Director, Finance.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
Business Partnering / Operational Support
- Support the optimization and tracking of marketing investment by playing a key role in driving the discussion with multiple, senior marketing and distribution leaders and their teams, via agenda creation, planning and budget variance analysis
- Support the subsequent weekly discussion and prepare materials for the senior-most Focus executive leaders, relating to marketing investment and distribution strategy
- Manage & distribute weekly box office tracking of in-release films
- Prepare monthly cost tracking reports to ensure Focus Features brand marketing goals are optimized
- Assist in the tracking and reporting of film development projects (early stage projects that ultimately may or may not be produced)
- Guide marketing teams & 3rd party vendors through vendor setup & accounts payable processes
- Ownership and maintenance of multiple RPA’s (Robotic Process Automation)
- Play a key role in initiating and supporting process and system improvements
FP&A
- Management of Focus domestic theatrical OCF & ultimate’s, working closely with UFEG FP&A
- Ownership of tracking and pacing of other ancillary revenue
- Perform ad hoc projects and tasks as needed
Controllership
- Facilitate smooth monthly close, preparing & posting key revenue & marketing journal entries
- Assist with SAP ledger & Eclipse tie out processes to ensure
- Work with the UFEG Controllership team to provide supporting finance schedules
Qualifications
Desired Characteristics:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with finance and non-finance team members across all levels of the organization and build strong working relationships
- Experience in operational finance or accounting (media experience preferred, but not required)
- Must be a self-starter who can work independently and take initiative in challenging situations
- Strong attention to detail and high standards for quality and accuracy in work product.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
- Interest in specialty film business preferred, not required
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Advanced user of excel e.g. pivot tables, V look-ups, SUM ifs
- Experience with SAP/Business Warehouse systems a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounting or Finance
