Job Overview:

A Mechanical Engineer will design, develop, build, and test mechanical systems and devices. They will work on a wide range of projects, from small component designs to large industrial machinery. The Mechanical Engineer will apply their technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions that meet project requirements and industry standards. 

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and devices, from concept to production.
  • Create detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Conduct research to evaluate and select appropriate materials, components, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of mechanical components with other subsystems.
  • Perform calculations, simulations, and testing to validate designs and ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
  • Identify and resolve design or manufacturing issues that may arise during the development process.
  • Communicate and present design concepts, progress, and results to internal teams and clients.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on design and development.
  • Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
  • Skills:
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to noise, heat, and other industrial conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.

Work Environment:

  • Mechanical Engineers typically work in an office environment, but may also spend time in manufacturing facilities and construction sites to oversee the implementation of their designs. They may be required to travel to client sites or suppliers as part of their job responsibilities.
