Salary Range: $69,000 - $92,000
This
is an exempt (salaried) position. Pay rates are based on education, skill,
experience level and internal equity. Internal equity considerations include an
assessment of the applicant’s salary history and qualifications in comparison
to the market rate and requirements for the job.

More About the Role:
Mecklenburg County Storm Water Services acquires flood
prone properties throughout Mecklenburg County to mitigate flood risks to
property and life. In addition, Storm Water Services performs stream and
riparian capital improvement projects utilizing natural channel design, to
restore the function of streams and floodplains.This position will lead a team that performs routine
inspection and maintenance activities on County floodplain property, capital
improvement projects, storm water control measures, and other routine functions
associated with storm water conveyance systems.
What Will I be Doing:
This position will lead a team of Storm Water Operators
in performing such activities including physical and chemical vegetation
management; capital project inspection, maintenance, and repair; medium to
heavy equipment operation; maintaining storm water conveyance systems; tree assessment,
removal, and replacement when necessary; coordinating resources and
facilitating staff growth and development. This position will also be
responsible for administrative duties related to managing staff including
approving time sheets, managing workplans, etc.

This position works with a wide range of engineers,
project managers, biologists, environmental professionals, regulatory agencies,
non-profit organizations, contractors, and the general public to facilitate
program goals and objectives.
Position Summary
Performs supervisory, technical and skilled work directing the work of a unit engaged in construction,
maintenance & repair of the public stormwater management system including inspection of facilities. This
position is responsible for scheduling, assigning, and inspecting the work of storm water operators within
the environmental division.
Essential Functions
Determine, schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority,
quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel
Inspect and monitor work areas, examines tools and equipment, and provides employee safety
training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules
Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings.
Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts
Inspect, test, and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools or gauges to verify
conformance to standards or repair requirements
Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational
procedures, or equipment use
Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures
Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate
working conditions
Perform skilled operation, repairs, or perform maintenance of light equipment such as hand or
power tools, hydraulic presses or shears, or welding equipment
