Job Summary:
Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning and academic excellence by preparing and delivering engaging instruction that meets the needs of 21st-century learners. Adjunct faculty are responsible for assessing student learning outcomes aligned with course and program objectives, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies to promote active learning and student success, serving as an engaged learning facilitator, and contributing to the College's mission, strategic goals, and a collaborative learning environment through instructional excellence and professional engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.
- Teach Medical Assisting courses including lecture and lab components as appropriate.
- Meet classes at assigned times.
- Plan course content and assign appropriate course work.
- Maintain student records.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation and engagement; be responsive to student inquiries in a timely manner.
- Evaluate student progress and assign grades.
- Revise course outlines, objectives, and catalog information as needed.
- Select appropriate texts and teaching materials.
- Maintain office hours convenient for students and as required by college policies.
- Prepare course/class reports as required.
- Attend and participate in conferences related to teaching area; membership in appropriate professional organizations is recommended.
- Keep abreast of current developments in the profession.
- Participate in department, division meetings and in-service training, etc.
- Participate in assessment of student learning at the course, program, and institution level.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the department's initiatives and activities.
- Adhere to college, divisional and departmental policies, procedures, standard practice and academic standards.
- Assist in short-range and long-range planning.
- Related duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Medical Assisting or Nursing required; bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a healthcare setting, including at least 160 hours in ambulatory care
- Demonstrated proficiency in instruction, curriculum delivery, evaluation, and program planning
- Ability to stand, demonstrate skills, and lecture for extended periods as required by instructional duties
Preferred Qualifications
- Current credential in good standing as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- Formal coursework or training in educational theory and instructional methods
- At least one (1) year of teaching experience in postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education
