About the role

College Thrive Coach

As our College Thrive Coach, you will report to the Director of College Thrive within the College Thrive Program. The College Thrive Coach will work in close partnership with the College Counseling teams to ensure the smooth transition of rising college freshmen from high school to college teams. The College Thrive Coach works to ensure scholars matriculate to college, college scholars successfully persist, and college scholars graduate within four years. College Thrive Coaches will also collaborate with the Director of Career and Life Design to support the exposure of meaningful career opportunities for our college scholars.

Day to day, you will:

  1. Provide direct coaching to a caseload of up to 100 scholars across various college campuses
  2. Implement the College Thrive coaching model with fidelity, addressing persistence concerns to help students earn their bachelor’s degrees in 4 to 6 years
  3. Support scholars in navigating financial aid processes, ensuring they have manageable debt by overseeing FAFSA, Dream Act, and College Track funding

To thrive in this job, you must:

  1. Have foundational knowledge of the college persistence and success field. This looks like a proficient level of fluency around college-specific details, financial aid, navigating campus resources, etc.
  2. Have an unwavering belief in our scholars. This means using strengths-based language when talking about our scholars and the communities they come from, desiring to partner with scholars (without a savior mentality), and recognizing that college scholars are adults with agency. We help guide them on their journey, but it is THEIR journey to a bachelor’s degree.
  3. Have experience following a project or event plan
