About the role

Overview

The Department of Psychiatry at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center anticipates openings for our APPIC accredited Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Adult Outpatient Behavioral Medicine Service, Mood Disorders Service, and Anxiety Disorders Service. Training focuses on science-practice integration and on empirically supported treatments with a focus on cognitive-behavioral (including third-wave cognitive behavioral) interventions. Research opportunities are available and encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Applicants from APPIC-member Doctoral Clinical or Counseling Psychology Programs.
  • All requirements for degree, including dissertation defense, must be completed prior to start date.
  • The fellow is also required to maintain a minimum clinical caseload of 20 outpatient contact hours per week, although opportunities to replace some clinical time with research opportunities may be available

Responsibilities

  • Anxiety Disorders Fellowship:
  • Fellowship training includes advanced diagnostic evaluation and case conceptualization using functional analysis and empirically-supported assessment measures, and treatment services using cognitive-behavioral therapies, with an emphasis on exposure-based treatment.
  • Clinical problems treated in this service include obsessive-compulsive disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder, in addition to those disorders included under the DSM-5 category of Anxiety Disorders.
  • Behavioral Medicine Fellowship:
  • Experience required in evaluation and treatment of health concerns.
  • Fellowship will focus on chronic pain management, insomnia treatments, and integrated care within our cancer center.
  • Mood Disorders Fellowship:
  • Fellowship focuses on cognitive behavioral interventions (including third-wave interventions, such as ACT) for mood disorders, including co-morbid depression and obesity, and on science-practice integration.
  • Training in Health At Every Size interventions and limited training in ACT therapies as applied to eating behavior is also available
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
