LGC Axolabs business unit has expanded its services portfolio to include cGMP manufacturing and a new GMP analytical capability for batch release testing of oligonucleotide-based drug substances and drug products, offering customer-focused solutions from discovery through to analytical-/ process-development and large-scale cGMP manufacture of investigational medicines for clinical trials and recently stepping into commercial scale manufactures.

Job Description

The Director Business Development is expected to drive sales activities to achieve growth of LGC Axolabs, especially filling the sales funnel for Axolabs Berlin facility and help drive the teams to deliver on the strategic objectives effectively and efficiently, by executing and defining sales strategies to grow specific key account revenues and achieve significant growth from new customers.

The personality, skill set, and work style should include flexible and strategic thinking, the ability to adapt to a changing market environment and provide solutions based on thorough analysis. A strong relationship builder and networker, and a good listener to understand client needs before those are expressed, ability to read between the lines.

Experience in managing diverse working groups, excellent written and verbal communications skill are an absolute must. A personality that thrives in a multi stakeholder environment; managing competing objectives, will be helpful.

The role will support  the Business Development team US, aligned to the global LGC Axolabs Business Development standard of work, while reporting into the Vice President Commercial Operations located in Freiburg, Germany.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline is a minimum required. Advanced degree (PhD) preferred. Master of Business Administration (MBA) to support corporate finance and operational excellence is a plus.
  • 10 years' experience preferred with a CMO background.
  • Knowledge of the overall drug development process relevant to pharmaceutical/biotech organizations is required.
  • Proven ability to work with sales and project management tools such as: MS Project, @Risk, Asana, Instagantt, and Salesforce, as well as procurement systems like Ariba, IFS, Filemaker, and Chase system. Beyond, text and graphic software: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong customer and service focus with a track record of success in developing new markets, services, and client relationships. Proven track record of business and client management is required.
  • Extensive experience and high levels of success in sales and marketing in a scientific organization (CRDMO) with an extensive network of contacts in the oligonucleotide area is a plus.
  • A strategic thinker who can identify new opportunities, translate strategy into action plans and can motivate both scientific and non-scientific teams.
  • Strong influencing skills: proven ability to get things done without formal authority.
  • Willing to travel, including trans-Atlantic and other long-haul trips as required.
