POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a corporate hybrid position that requires living within commutable distance to our Chicago downtown headquarters office.  Relocation assistance will be considered.

The Corporate Maintenance Manager is responsible for facilitating the timely progression of cars through repair events including the robust review and approval or rejection of repair estimates. In this position, the Corporate Maintenance Manager will act as the primary point of contact for a given shopping event ensuring all necessary documentation and support is provided to effectively repair UTC/Procor-owned equipment.  The role also uses operational data, trend analysis, and continuous improvement methods to identify recurring maintenance issues, improve process consistency, support automation opportunities, and provide timely visibility to management.

Primary responsibilities and/or essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviews Billing Repair Cards for accuracy, compliance and consistency across shops and network.

  • Ensures repair charges are appropriate via data analytics and detection controls.

  • Ensures timely, complete and accurate lessee billing for lessee-responsible repairs.

  • Escalates repair vs. scrap determination for repair candidates based upon approved parameters.

  • Drives timely movement of cars through shop and serves as primary point of contact for shops to obtain information necessary to complete car repair once the car has been received and inspected by the shop (e.g., questions regarding material or part substitution).

  • Obtains answers to shop repair questions by utilizing internal resources.

  • Supports frequent analysis & reporting of common maintenance items, using data to identify trends and continuous improvement tactics to make timely interventions.

  • Leads, executes and closes remote and on-site shop audits.

  • Participates in special projects as needed.

SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Data analysis and reporting: Ability to analyze operational, repair, billing, and shop performance data to identify trends, recurring issues, root causes, and improvement opportunities.

  • Continuous improvement mindset preferred: Experience identifying process gaps, documenting workflows, improving cycle time, accuracy, cost control, or customer service outcomes. 

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

  • Familiarity with industry quality and regulatory compliance requirements and knowledge of railcar repair practices, AAR R
