The Ridge School seeks to hire a Teacher's Assistant who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
The Ridge School of Montgomery County is a special education day school for students in grades 6 through 12 with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and other behavioral health impairments. We provide educational, clinical, and behavioral services to students.
As the Teacher's Assistant, you will:
•Provide instructional support to the assigned child with the goal of increasing the student's level of independence
•Assist the teacher and the interdisciplinary team in the formulation and implementation of therapeutic and behavior management strategies for this student in the program
•Assist the teacher in development of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Plan for assigned student
•Be available to physically restrain student in instances of imminent danger to self or others
•Read the student's reports and Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Qualifications Include:
•Required: High School Diploma or GED
•Preferred: Bachelor's degree in education, psychology or other related discipline
•Minimum of one year work experience with special needs students is required (i.e., camp counselor, childcare work, college practicum experiences)
•Basic knowledge of child and/or adolescent development issues is required
•Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Work Schedule:
M-F 8am-4:30pm
