The person hired for the Manufacturing Systems Developer position will have the opportunity to design, develop, deploy and support mission-critical software systems within a world-class manufacturing organization with opportunities for future advancement.

The ideal candidate requires an experienced, full-stack .NET web developer with a track record of developing integrated manufacturing systems using the Symphony AI (Workflow) platform and supported 3M Manufacturing Systems such as 3MMES and SAP.

This position is self-directed and must be capable of simultaneously leading multiple technical projects with cross-functional team members from all levels of the organization.

  •  Work closely with engineering and operational teams to support and enhance existing manufacturing systems.

  • Design and develop software systems to support projects and activities within the division and across multiple sites.

  • Expand data integration, historization and analytics capabilities between shop floor control and business information systems.

  • Lead critical projects with high impact to the site(s) which support:

    • Infrastructure upgrades and expansion

    • New systems and technology deployment

    • Business/Process systems integration

    • Data analytics and business intelligence

  • Provide technical vision and strategic planning for site information systems architecture.

  • Ensure compliance with all corporate technology and information security requirements.

  • Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures for relevant processes, standards, support and guidelines.

Your Skills and Expertise  
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Any one of the following combinations of experience and education from an accredited educational institution:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution AND a minimum 2 years of software development experience

  • Vocational/Trade/Technical diploma or Associates degree AND a minimum 4 years of IT systems development experience

  • High School Diploma/GED AND a minimum 6 years of IT systems development experience

AND

  • Professional software development experience with C# ASP.NET MVC and JavaScript.

  • Experience using ANSI SQL query language (e.g. Data queries, migrations, transformations)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in IT or any other related discipline from an accredited educational institution.

  • Experience developing software solutions using Symphony AI (Workflow).

  • Experience developing software solutions using Microsoft ASP.Net Web API.

  • Experience developing software solutions using Microsoft SQL Server (RDBMS).

  • Experience developing software solutions using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

  • Experience using Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).

  • Experience using Relational Data Modeling.

  • Experience managing and using Microsoft Internet Information Services (MS-IIS).

  • Experience managing and using VMWare.

  • Experience managing and using Rockwell FactoryTalk Historian.

  • An affinity and aptitude for a broad variety of computing technologies.

  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities.

  • Self-motivated, team oriented and excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills
