About this role

We are seeking a Research, Principal to support the discovery of actionable ideas that will help HR leaders transform their organizations, people, and business outcomes. Principals focus on strategic thought work, analyzing complex problems in search of innovative solutions. They work closely with C-level executives to identify and produce research that addresses pressing human resources challenges on a global scale.

In this role, you will be a key player in the HR Practice’s ongoing research initiative focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, exploring how HR leaders can drive organizational success by developing an employee-centric DEI strategy and implementing an effective governance structure, identifying relevant metrics for tracking progress and ensuring accountability, providing training and communication tools for employees and leaders, and addressing biases throughout the employee lifecycle. This role will enable you to apply your intellectual curiosity in a collaborative environment. The team puts significant emphasis on an inclusive dynamic and the personal and professional growth of each associate.

What you will do

  • Learn and execute Gartner's signature methodology for conducting world-class research that helps identify best practice solutions to many of today's biggest human resources challenges.
  • Author key research deliverables, including but not limited to large research studies, white papers, case studies, presentations and webinars, playbooks and templates.
  • Conduct research interviews with C-level executives and extensive secondary literature searches, using these inputs to develop research deliverables and inform research colleagues of key insights shaping the employee experience landscape.
  • Draft surveys and collaborate with quantitative research partners to analyze and interpret data to establish benchmarks and evaluate the impact of employee experience strategies on key outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of key trends affecting HR and the employee experience and use this knowledge to drive timely and relevant product planning and content creation.

What we’re looking for

  • A Bachelor's degree required, and a Master’s/PhD in a social science preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting primary and secondary research utilizing qualitative and quantitative data, with particular expertise in survey design and analysis.
  • A critical thinker and problem solver with strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity, demonstrating the ability to assess business problems and provide actionable, outcome-based insights in a client-centric environment.
  • A great writer with experience converting qualitative and quantitative information into clear frameworks, narratives and visually compelling presentations for an executive audience.
  • A skilled collaborator, able to manage research projects with multiple stakeholders as well as produce high-quality research individually.
  • An effective project manager with proven ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and work under ambiguity/uncertainty (e.g., changing factors, limited information).
