GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a full-time Senior Grant Specialist in our Highway Safety Program, based in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in your community? As a Senior Grant Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in improving traffic safety on Wyoming’s roadways by ensuring that the right strategies and countermeasures are in place to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities. Your expertise in grant management will ensure that federally funded traffic safety programs are both fiscally responsible and effective.
Cheyenne is a steadily growing community along the Front Range, but still true to the history of the Old West. The city offers nearby mountain biking, skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities. Cheyenne is the home to the "Daddy of 'em All" – Cheyenne Frontier Days – held every last week of July. Wyoming is one of only nine states with no state income tax.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.
- Performs all aspects of grant management for assigned grant program areas to include fiscal oversight, sub-recipients’ federal compliance monitoring, and technical assistance
- Reviews grant funding requests within assigned program areas for applicability
- Writes grant agreements, internal scope of work, and amendments to include required elements from Federal regulation, State regulation, and department audit section requirements
- Verifies monthly expenditures and supporting documentation, makes corrections as needed to vouchers and expenditure reports
- Maintains documentation of transactions per general accounting procedures and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) audit requirements
- Ensures expenditures are allowable and do not exceed grant limitations and the scope of the project
- Monitors project activities, objective progress, and compliance with federal rules and regulations
- Performs annual on-site monitoring of sub-recipients’ activities and expenditures
- Provides technical assistance for sub-recipients within assigned program areas
- Participates in federal and state financial audits of assigned grant program areas
- Analyzes behavioral data determining trends to aid decision making, as to grant awards
