Description

Job Summary:

The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for maintaining and managing a master production schedule that details the production requirements, quantities, and timing to ensure efficient operations that meet customer demand.  This role is critical in balancing material availability, production capacity, and inventory targets while adhering to production and product guidelines.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a master schedule that balances customer demand while leveling workload released to manufacturing.
  • Maintain scheduling parameters, such as lead-times, lot sizes, and cycle times. 
  • Monitor schedules, assess and collaborate with management to mitigate risks that may impact the schedule. 
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Purchasing, Materials, Quality and others as necessary to ensure that the schedule is realistic and aligns with overall business objectives.
  • Proactively identify potential scheduling conflicts or bottlenecks and work with relevant departments to resolve them. 
  • Participate in production meetings and provide visibility to capacity constraints, schedule changes, and priority shifts. 
  • Communicate schedule changes to correspondent stakeholders as changes occur. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

 

Qualifications


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong working knowledge of PC environment and MS Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Knowledge of estimating software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes including inventory management, supply management, materials management and capacity planning. 

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school degree or GED; minimum 3 years related experience or combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • 3 or more years’ experience in supply chain management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central preferred), advanced Excel skills, and experience with scheduling software (MRP etc.) 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • 1-2 direct reports 

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Employees in this position are required to be able to hear and have sufficient vision to utilize all office equipment.  
  • Use of hands and fingers is required to utilize standard office equipment.  
  • Use of feet and legs required to walk, climb and maneuver within property sites.  
  • Requires occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.  
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, either while driving or at a desk and working on a computer.
