About the role

Job Description

Hybrid: This role is hybrid. Requiring the employee to be onsite an average of 3 days per week at Warren location.

The Role

This role is critical for improving the quality of GM products including reducing warranty and improving customer vehicle order delays by preventing defects through yard software updates and unknown vehicle impact due to yard activities. This role will help the vehicle plants integrate new software into their produced vehicles as seamlessly as possible. This role is defining the standards for the future of GM.  

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)  

  • Coordinate program re-flash activities. 

  • Create open communication between all stakeholders. 

  • Host and support cross-functional meetings to discuss details of reflash activities. 

  • Organize and track multi-location activities throughout North America to include: Personnel, Software timing, expected completion date, Cost, Hardware tracking, Standard re-flash supplies, etc.

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to reduce software complexity.

  • Lead a team of individuals working on Software related issues during the Launch of a new program.

Leadership

  • Lead the Software Technical Teams by providing clear expectations of software packages, hardware requirements and complexity reduction.

  • Gather and provide data; Monitor all Software activities to schedule team for support opportunities. 

  • Do empathy interviews with team member impacted to make sure all support needs are being met.  

  • Understand top issues manufacturing is experiencing and read across to future programs to drive early intervention.

  • Be the VOICE of the GEST; Speak up in meetings, ask questions, ensure full understanding of the project, scope and expectations. 

Be the expert

  • Familiarity with all GM EOL test stations.

  • Expertise in GM vehicle software development and deployment strategies.

  • Proficient in GM vehicle safety standards.

  • Knowledge in both Internal Combustion Engine (I.C.E) and Electric Vehicle architectures.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with preferred focus in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge in both Internal Combustion Engine (I.C.E) and Electric Vehicle architectures

  • Vehicle electrical sub-systems experience (engine controls, ABS, air bag, body controllers)

  • Automotive assembly plant operations.

  • 50% travel required- - North America, Germany, China

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Familiarity with all GM EOL test stations

  • Expertise in GM vehicle software development and deployment strategies

  • Proficient in GM vehicle safety standards

  • GM quality systems

  • GM vehicle development process

  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical architecture (i.e., ISO 14229, Cybersecurity, Ethernet)

This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP, or localizations.
