Job Summary

White 9 is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA), with Day and Night availability, to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

The medical acute care unit has twenty-five-beds for patients, and is located in Boston, MA. A majority of patients are admitted directly from the Emergency Department and have single or multi-system problems including, but not exclusively, alterations in gas exchange, airway clearance, cardiac function, renal function, nutrition, hepatic function, skin integrity and mental states.

 

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

• Assisting the healthcare team, the PCA promotes a safe and caring environment for patients under the mentorship of an RN.

• PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

• Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.

• Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

• Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.

Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.

Preferred: Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
