Who We Are:
YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a tuition-free, public charter high school, with a singular focus on supporting youth aged 17-20 who have been pushed out of traditional schools. During our 1-year alternative program, Youthbuild facilitates a warm, loving culture that uses a variety of structures to build community, such as a restorative-justice approach to discipline, weekly community meetings, and school-wide service projects. Students are empowered to attain their high school diploma and vocational certifications, while receiving unconditional support by the staff around them. At YouthBuild, we work intentionally to disrupt the cycle of poverty and support our students to achieve post-secondary success (4-year college, 2-year college, vocational training program, or liveable wage job). The Opportunity:
The Summer School Senior Seminar Teacher serves 4 sections of YouthBuild students from July 7, 2025-August 1, 2025 under the guidance of the Summer School Director. The Summer School Senior Seminar Teacher is dynamic, supportive, and innovative in their support of YouthBuild students, ensuring that students have access to curriculum that supports the completion of their Senior Seminar graduation requirement.

- Three to five years’ teaching experience, preferred.
- A current teaching certification (any subject area), preferred but not required.
Requirements
What You’ll Do:
You will…
- Teach 4 sections of High School Senior Seminar (8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) to a class size of up to 25 students.
- Attend a one day training the last week in June to prepare for Summer Programming.
- Establish a positive and productive learning environment based on strong relationships with students.
- Design student-centered, inquiry-based Senior Seminar lessons that apply to real world scenarios and attend to individual learning needs.
- Guide students learning through constructive criticism, encouragement and patience.
- Track student progress, give frequent actionable feedback to students and communicate student progress to the greater community through PowerSchool.
- You will work in inter-departmental teams to support the success of a group of students as they move through our Summer School Learning, ensuring success.
- Perform other duties, as assigned by the Summer School Director or School Principal.

- A competitive hourly rate for Summer School, including a paid preparation period, of $35.00 per hour.
- 1 hour of sick time per every 40 hours worked.
