About the role

Under limited supervision, responsible for coordinating the planning, maintenance and implementation of classroom technology in accordance with established standards by ensuring the performance/operation of multimedia audiovisual equipment in a classroom/conference setting. Provides continual review and improvement of systems performance and services for the Institution. Leads or mentors lower level team members.

  • Proactively reviews systems performance. 
  • Develops programs for training faculty and staff, ensuring timely implementation of technology tools and resources. 
  • Facilitates developmental opportunities for end users. 
  • Reviews and recommends new procedures for classroom technology, functionality, upgrades, control system programming and debugging. 
  • Maintains responsible use of hardware, software, peripheral equipment, tools and test equipment. 
  • Installs services and supports classroom equipment/systems. Continually reviews improvement of system operations practices and develops relevant technical procedure documentation. 
  • Installs, services and supports classroom equipment/systems. 
  • Provides immediate response to problems and emergencies affecting normal operations. 
  • Provides support and problem resolution for classroom technology systems, technical operations, and resources. 
  • Works closely with others within Information Management Services (IMS) and appropriate external vendor(s) to ensure efficient functionality of resources. 
  • Provides technical server support and troubleshooting of classroom control and monitoring systems. 
  • Provides general supervision on designated projects and serves as project manager for both small and large projects. 
  • Serves as a project team leader for services and initiatives to include planning, development, testing, and implementation. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of current computing, networking and communications systems and ability to perform effectively with an understanding of institutional policies and activities. 
  • Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair enhanced classroom audiovisual systems and interactive video conference (IVC) room systems and complete complex technical projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner. 
  • A solid customer service acumen and interpersonal skills to effectively work with both internal and external customers and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner. 
  • Ability to learn new technologies and work with teams to provide input on improvements to existing processes and systems. 
  • Ability to work on projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. 
  • Proven ability to work across departments, quickly establishing rapport with academic and administrative personnel.

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of directly related experience is required. 
  • Integration experience, pre-wire installation, and knowledge working with Crestron and/or Q-sys is highly preferred.
