Who You Are:

We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as a Skilled Nursing LVN. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationship with staff and residents. Position Summary

Longhorn Village is seeking a compassionate, experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Nurse Aide Training Program (NATCEP) Instructor. This seasonal position is ideal for a nurse who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and preparing the next generation of Certified Nurse Aides to provide exceptional, person-centered care.

Under the general supervision of the Program Director, the Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor is responsible for delivering classroom instruction, laboratory skills training, and supervised clinical experiences in accordance with Texas Health and Human Services NATCEP requirements. The instructor plays a vital role in fostering professional growth, clinical competence, confidence, compassion, and excellence in resident care.

Schedule

Seasonal position (approximately one 4-week class per quarter)
Monday through Friday
Approximately 40–45 hours per week during each training session
No evenings, weekends, or on-call responsibilities unless otherwise scheduled

Essential Responsibilities

Provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction for the Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP).
Prepare students to successfully complete the Texas Nurse Aide Competency Examination.
Demonstrate and teach safe, evidence-based nursing assistant skills in accordance with state regulations and facility standards.
Supervise students during clinical training while promoting resident safety, dignity, and quality of care.
Mentor students through constructive coaching, encouragement, and individualized instruction.
Create an engaging learning environment that accommodates a variety of adult learning styles.
Evaluate student performance and maintain required documentation and attendance records.
Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure compliance with all Texas Health and Human Services regulations.
Model professionalism, ethical conduct, teamwork, and compassionate, resident-centered care at all times.
Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

Current, unrestricted Texas LVN or RN license.
Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience in a long-term care facility.
Meets Texas Health and Human Services instructor qualifications for a Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP), including:

Completion of a course in teaching adults or
Experience supervising nurse aides or teaching adult learners as part of professional nursing responsibilities.


Ability to work under the general supervision of the Program Director.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with basic computer applications and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience teaching or precepting nursing staff or students.
Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
Knowledge of Texas Health and Human Services NATCEP requirements.
Experience presenting educational programs or conducting staff development.
