About the role

Description

The Human Resources Generalist manages the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including the administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance.


Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, aptitude exams, and certifications.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates hiring qualified job applicants for open positions alongside the Human Resource Manager; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Works with the Human Resource Manager to coordinate required training and safety programs, maintains team member records, and tracks ongoing training and/or certification requirements to ensure Florida Paints remains in compliance.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and team member eligibility verifications.
  • Manages the onboarding process for each new team member.
  • Manages the offboarding process for exiting employees, including administration of COBRA, HRIS & payroll systems and updating other parties as needed.
  • Works with the Human Resource Manager to implement and manage new hire orientation and team member recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, team members, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommend best practices, and review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Maintain HRIS and employee records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of related HR experience; SHRM-CP a plus.
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal employment laws
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and team members.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s payroll, HRIS, and talent management systems.


Physical Requirements

  • The team member must be able to sit at a desk and work on a computer for long periods of time. 
  • The team member must also be able to drive and spend multiple hours in a vehicle when traveling between locations. 
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. 
  • The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
