The primary responsibility of the technician is to provide physical and technical support in both product development and quality control activities including but not limited to pilot scale equipment operation, inventory control, testing, design of experiments, product development and data retention. The incumbent is a professional in applying scientific principles combined with academic knowledge, experimental results and technical skills and experiences to support and enhance the capabilities of the lab.

Area of responsibility/Technical Expertise

•    Product development responsibilities include operate and maintain pilot scale extrusion equipment.  Maintain physical inventory of raw materials and finished goods.  Test finished goods using established laboratory equipment and procedures.  
•    Quality control responsibilities include independently conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in process, and finished goods using a variety of testing equipment and procedures to maintain product quality.  
•    Maintain data and records in accordance with SOPs, IATF and internal processes.
•    Demonstrate technical ability to lead and/or assist in the design and execution of experiments and testing with minimal supervision.
•    Understand and apply fundamental principles of lab equipment, problem solving, customer complaints investigation and product development.
•    Contribute to analytical method development and improvement.
•    Effective communication with cross-functional teams (QC, Product Development, Maintenance, Shipping/Receiving, HSE and Operations).
•    Prioritize and organize all assignments with minimal supervision.
•    Perform all work in a safe manner.

About you

Education
•    Technical knowledge (2-4 year Science degree or >5 years of lab or extrusion experience)
•    Demonstrated knowledge of relevant IT, Microsoft and equipment specific software and systems
Experience
•    Working knowledge of polymer manufacturing and extrusions processes
•    Technical knowledge and skills as related to polymer processing and testing
•    Technical documentation skills
•    Good oral and written communication skills
•    Knowledge of HSE&Q standards
•    Ability to work independently and in team situations
