The Senior Manager of Commercial Portfolio Strategy leads a team responsible for portfolio planning, prioritization, and executive storytelling across NB/DT, ensuring alignment across Product Management, Planning, and leadership.

In this role, you will:
- Drive portfolio strategy and planning processes across HP’s commercial PC business
- Build and develop a high-performing team of strategy and portfolio leaders
- Serve as a key integrator across planning, PM, finance, and leadership teams
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Strategy Execution
- Lead, coach, and develop a team responsible for portfolio and solutions strategy, planning, and executive deliverables
- Set clear direction, priorities, and quality expectations; ensure team outputs are analytical, structured, and decision-oriented
- Establish strong operating rhythms across planning cycles, portfolio reviews, and leadership updates
- Build team capability in portfolio modeling, trade-off analysis, and executive storytelling
- Represent Portfolio Strategy in key leadership forums, ensuring outputs are clear, credible, and actionable
- Portfolio Strategy & Roadmap Direction
- Drive development of end-to-end commercial portfolio strategy across NB/DT
- Lead portfolio prioritization, trade-offs, and simplification efforts across segments and platforms
- Support definition of future portfolio roadmap (FY27–FY28) including platform inclusion, differentiation, and investment focus
- Ensure alignment of portfolio strategy with market, competitive, and financial objectives
- Portfolio Planning System & Governance
- Oversee operation of HP’s portfolio planning systems (e.g., Touchstone / APP):
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness
- Enable robust business case inputs and prioritization logic
- Drive governance across: Portfolio inputs, Planning cycles, Cross-functional decision forums
- Maintain a single source of truth for portfolio data and decisions
Cross-Functional Alignment & Integration
- Act as a key integrator across: Product Management (NB/DT), Planning teams, Finance and strategy, System managers
- Drive alignment on: Portfolio priorities, Platform inclusion/exclusion decisions
- Key assumptions and trade-offs
- Ensure portfolio strategy translates into funded roadmap commitments and execution plans
- Executive Narrative & Decision Support
- Lead development of portfolio strategy materials for executive reviews, including: QBW, CEO / ELT reviews, Market updates
- Translate complex portfolio trade-offs into clear, concise, decision-grade narratives
- Support ongoing executive cadence with high-quality, insight-driven outputs
Knowledge and Skills
- Proven people leader with experience building high-performing teams in strategy or product roles
- Strong background in: Product portfolio strategy / product management / planning and Financial modeling, business cases, and prioritization frameworks
- Ability to: Structure complex problems and synthesize multiple inputs into clear recommendations and drive alignment across a matrixed organization
- Strong executive communication skills—able to deliver concise, high-impact narratives
- Understanding of commercial PC market dynamics, including: Competitive positioning, Platform strategy and Cost / performance trade-offs
- High comfort with ambiguity and competing priorities
Education and Experience
- 10+ years of experience in product management, solutions or portfolio strategy, or related roles
- Experience in commercial PC, enterprise technology, or adjacent hardware/software markets preferred
- Demonstrated experience influencing roadmap and investment decisions
- Prior experience leading or mentoring talent strongly preferred
- MBA or equivalent experience a plus
