What you'll do...

Director, Specialty Ethics and Compliance, Consumer Protection

Join Walmart’s U.S. Consumer Protection Compliance team as a Director leading our weights and measures compliance program. This critical position will provide short-term and long-term strategic direction for weights and measures compliance, including ensuring accurate and transparent pricing in-store and online, optimizing scale compliance, and developing a program for our growing electric vehicle (EV) charging network. This role will work cross-functionally with legal, policy and business stakeholders, including associates in Operations and Merchandising, as well as other areas within compliance to design and implement programs that build trust with our customers and minimize regulatory risk. You will also manage other members of the weights and measures team to drive compliance through program execution and continuous improvement.

What you'll do: 

  • Lead cross-functional efforts to embed compliance controls within business workflows (compliance by design).

  • Work with product and technology teams to implement automated controls related to weights and measures compliance.

  • Define our weights and measures compliance programs though documenting policies, standards and controls, and creating KPIs and other methods to measure program efficacy.

  • Engage with regulators to stay up to date on regulatory requirements, enforcement trends and emerging weights and measures issues.

  • Coordinate with senior legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure compliance with weights and measures laws and industry standards. 

  • Assess risk levels related to business operations related to pricing, scales, packaging, and EV charging.

  • Escalate concerns based on risk to the company and recommend a plan of action for resolution and risk mitigation.

  • Work with the Group Director to identify and mitigate emerging consumer protection compliance risks.

What you'll bring:

  • You have experience working in compliance and/or acting as a subject matter expert in federal or state consumer protection laws.

  • You have experience building and executing compliance programs, interpreting legal obligations and determining business impact. 

  • You’re process-minded and have a solid track record of delivering operational efficiencies to a program risk and/or compliance program.

  • You have experience leading teams and communicating with multiple stakeholders.​

  • You are a strategic and collaborative compliance leader that employs a growth mindset to translate business challenges into actionable solutions. 

  • You are someone with excellent communication skills who builds trust and credibility and inspires associates across the business. 

  • You are biased to action, resourceful, and approachable while also having the ability to influence and lead change.
