FLSA: Full-Time/Exempt

LOCATION/HOURS

  • This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid schedule requiring in-person work three days a week (including required Saturdays) and virtual work two days a week. The typical weekly schedule is as follows:  
    • Fall Term: Tuesday through Saturday (3x a month); Monday through Friday (1x month)
    • Spring Term: Tuesday through Saturday (3x a month); Monday through Friday (1x month)
    • Summer Term: Monday through Friday
    • In-person attendance is required for all Saturday programming dates. 

  • Upon hire, all candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, Suite #501, New York, NY 10005.

  • Work requires local travel beyond the office for Saturday programming at the following locations (subject to change): 
    • Long Island University
    • Baruch College

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Manager of Student Services is responsible for enhancing and expanding the mental health and socio-emotional support systems within the SEO Scholars High School program by developing comprehensive services addressing students’ needs through individual and group counseling. Reporting to the Associate Director of Programs & Student Success, the Senior Manager will lead the social service referral program, supervise and manage MSW interns, and improve student support services while building and refining connections with school counselors, caregivers, and local and national organizations.

Additionally, this role involves developing and driving strategy across departments, providing direct student support, maintaining strategic partnerships, and ensuring compliance and effectiveness through updated policies. This position requires a dedicated, mission-driven individual who takes initiative and values collaboration.

  • Direct Student Support and Staff Training (45%)
    • Provide 1:1 and group support for mental health crises and other urgent issues, referring scholars to appropriate external providers for long-term support.
    • Act as the point person for communication and consultation with school counselors and caregivers regarding mental health and socio-emotional issues, providing general updates and specific follow-up and guidance.   
    • Work with student-facing Program Managers to create action, behavior, and improvement plans for scholars' socio-emotional health.
    • Host regular office hours for students seeking support.
    • Attend different grade team meetings on a rotational basis to learn more about the scholars, address concerns, and provide support to staff.
    • Develop and facilitate staff training on socio-emotional development, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention.
    • Regularly attend and be available during weekday, Saturday, and Summer programming.

  • Program Management and Development (35%)
    • Lead and manage the Student Services referral program, ensuring scholars attend meetings and maintaining an efficient, effective process.
    • Conduct regular needs assessments and social services inventory across the high school program to inform process revisions.
    • Update, revise, and maintain processes for working with school counselors and referring SEO Scholars to external organizations for long-term mental health services. Ensure compliance with NYS guidelines and maintain up-to-date mental health and wellness resources.
    • Supervise and manage 2-4 MSW interns, enhance the intern program, and potentially scale it to provide increased support for scholars.
    • Manage the emergency and bereavement fund in consultation with the Associate Director of Programs & Student Success.

  • Partnership Development and Strategic Collaboration (20%)
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with local and national social service organizations to support the overall health of scholars.
    • Collaborate with the Program, Curriculum & Instruction, Recruitment and Admissions, and Operations teams to incorporate mental health and wellnes
