Youth Program Leaders: Youth Ambassadors Programs (Argentina/Chile and Brazil)

The overall goal of Youth Ambassador programs is to provide a leadership exchange for high school students and adult mentors. World Learning is seeking one Senior Program Leader and one Program Leader for the Youth Ambassadors Program with Brazil in winter 2025. Leaders will accompany and monitor Brazilian high school participants for a U.S. government-funded exchange program to the United States.

YA Brazil Theme: Climate Change Action

YA Brazil Location: Students and adult mentors from Brazil travel to Washington, D.C. for their orientation; stay with host families in Cleveland, OH and Pensacola, FL and return to Washington, D.C. to finish their exchange.

YA Brazil Duration: January 9th - 25th, 2025

YA Argentina/Chile Theme: Multiculturalism and Civic Engagement

YA Argentina/Chile Location: Students and adult mentors from Argentina and Chile travel to Washington, D.C. for their orientation; stay with host families in Charlottesville, VA and Kansas City, MO, and return to Washington, D.C. to finish their exchange.

YA Argentina/Chile Duration: March 12th - 29th, 2025

Compensation: Salaries range from $3,384 to $3,722, varying by role and program duration.

Qualifications: Applicants must be return leaders who have led a World Learning Youth Program or Experiment program previously, preferably in summer 2024. A background in Spanish language is preferred for the Argentina/Chile exchange. For both exchanges, applicants with Youth Ambassadors program experience and Latin America regional experience are highly encouraged to apply. Applicants who have not previously led a program with World Learning Youth Programs or The Experiment will not be considered.

Applicants must submit their resume and cover letter no later than November 1, 2024. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and interviews conducted accordingly.

Job description

World Learning seeks individuals who have demonstrated interest in youth development and experiential learning, and experience working with young people and leading short-term, high school exchange programs. Leaders maximize the wellbeing of participants in order to foster meaningful and memorable learning experiences. Leaders deliver educational content and are knowledgeable in the design and delivery of active, engaging workshops. Leaders also represent World Learning in U.S. domestic host communities, and at times overseas, and manage partner relationships with integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Candidates with an exceedingly high degree of motivation to work with youth and their adult mentors are encouraged to apply. These highly competitive and demanding positions require a significant amount of stamina, positivity, teamwork, flexibility, diplomacy, initiative, as well as extensive cross-cultural experience. Responsibilities of these multifaceted positions include teaching and facilitation, as well a great deal of behind-the-scenes support work. Responsibilities and tasks include the following:
