Position Accountabilities

Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain an understanding of relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and advisories issued by OFAC, FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network), and other regulatory bodies pertaining to economic sanctions, AML, and CTF.
  • Ensure all relevant policies, procedures, and practices align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Conduct periodic reviews of lines of business and legal entities’ policies and procedures.
  • Implement necessary changes to policies and procedures in response to regulatory updates or changes in the organization's risk profile.

Policy and Procedure Management

  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintains the enterprise policy and procedure program for BSA, AML, and Sanctions compliance within the FIU and across other business units, with ultimate oversight by the Director of FIU.
  • Develops and maintains the FIU’s internal procedures. Maintains and updates the FIU’s resources and documents in AUB’s e-Library and on the FIU’s Intranet site.
  • Conducts independent reviews of lines of business and applicable non-bank affiliates, BSA, AML, and Sanctions Red Flags procedures, and FIU training materials to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Publishes gap analysis memos to document reviews of procedures, and tracks successful remediation of issues identified if applicable.

Risk Assessment and Issue Management

  • Maintain awareness of emerging risks, assess how they may impact the Bank, and develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified risks effectively.
  • Conduct the annual Enterprise AML-Sanctions risk assessment and the FIU business line risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential vulnerabilities related to AML-Sanctions compliance.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and make adjustments, as necessary.
  • Ensures plans and programs adhere to appropriate policies and regulations, and assists lines of business and/or applicable non-bank affiliates with reporting on the status of significant issues.
  • Research BSA, AML, and Sanctions issues/questions upon occurrence, and provides appropriate clarification or interpretation to appropriate management and/or requestor, on applicable rules, regulations, and guidance supporting responses with regulatory citations.

Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other departments, including Legal, Risk Management, Systems/Data Governance, Internal Audit, and Business Units, as needed.
  • Works with functional management to ensure alignment with strategy/policies and business line objectives

 

  • Works with functional management to ensure risks are properly identified in new products/services and conversions by attending project meetings
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for AML and Sanctions. Collaborates and guides the lines of business and applicable non-bank affiliates on: AML and Sanctions policies and procedures, identifying control gaps and/or remediation needed; products and service advice relative to FIU impact, audits and exams; managing issues; escalating through proper channels, as needed; and recommending corrective actions for non-compliance.
  • Facilitate responses to attestations/questionnaires (e.g., Wolfsberg)
  • Facilitate vendor/contract management due diligence and reviews
  • Coordinates company-wide communications for FIU management, including maintaining and updating the intranet.
  • Coordinates FIU internal communications, training opportunities, and immediate changes, updates or tasks within the FIU.
  • Maintains FIU distribution lists

Internal and External Audits

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits of the Bank's AML and sanctions compliance programs.
  • Respond to audit findings and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure that audit recommendations are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

FIU Training

  • Approves BSA, AML, Sanctions training assignments for new job roles for the enterprise and applicable non-bank affiliates
  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that employees are aware of and understand their AML and sanctions compliance responsibilities.
  • Ensure that training materials are up-to-date and reflect current regulatory requirements and best practices.
