Job Responsibilities

•   Provide compensation guidance for executives of public, private, portfolio and not-for-profit companies 
•   Review and advise on employment arrangements, equity plans, deferred compensation, qualified and nonqualified plans 
•   Evaluate and offer strategic thinking on concentrated equity positions and pre-transaction planning for private companies in transition including sale or IPO
•   Monitor executive compensation landscape, trends, and law, and produce written thought leadership insights 
•   Answer client questions on when and how to defer compensation, how to manage concentrated stock positions, what to negotiate in a severance package, advise on near-retirement financial strategies, how to prepare for current and future liquidity needs, how to prepare personal finances pre-IPO
•   Train financial advisors on how to speak to clients around executive compensation 
•   Meet with clients and prospects and engage on executive compensation questions
•   Develop a toolkit of educational materials for client engagement 

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities

•   7+ years’ experience practicing law as an Executive Compensation & Benefits attorney or an equivalent in-house role
•   JD preferred but similar experience considered
•   The ability to partner closely with business partners including but not limited to members of the integrated team, partners in the business, and external clients  
•   Ability to direct, manage and coach junior talent 
•   A strong self-motivator with a “can-do” attitude and the ability to adapt in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
•   Strong presentation and public speaking skills, as well as strong written skills  
•   Creative problem-solving abilities that generate new ideas and can adjust to meet changing needs
•   Strong leadership and clear judgment in addition to being a strong influencer and facilitator 
•   Proactive, accountable and detail oriented work ethic
•   Willingness to travel (mostly domestic) as needed
