The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for assisting and executing various tasks within the warehouse environment, focusing on the setup, management, and optimization of inventory. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in warehouse operations, inventory management, and line-side logistics. This role demands a proactive individual with a keen eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a smooth and efficient flow of materials within the warehouse.

SoLa Impact is a real estate private equity firm with a double bottom line strategy focused on preserving, rehabbing, and building high-quality affordable housing in Black and brown communities. SoLa is Southern California's largest for-profit affordable housing developer and is currently in construction on over 2,000 affordable housing units across Southern California. SoLa currently owns and manages over $1.2 billion of multifamily assets, almost all of which are in low-income, Black and brown communities.
SoLa's new venture affiliate is reinventing multifamily housing creation by building the first and only standardized modular housing factory. The new venture platform is a comprehensive manufacturing system designed, engineered, and built to consistently produce a high-quality, low-cost, net-zero ready, and most importantly, standardized, modular housing product. The new venture is a Black-owned and operated business based in Southern California that will deliver between 1,000 – 1,500 modular housing units per year by 2025. Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records using designated software systems.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
Warehouse Setup and Organization:
- Implement efficient warehouse layout designs to optimize space and streamline operations.
- Oversee the setup and arrangement of incoming materials, ensuring proper categorization and storage.
- Implement and maintain best practices for warehouse safety, cleanliness, and organization.
Line-Side Logistics:
- Coordinate the timely delivery and distribution of materials to production lines.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure the availability of required materials and supplies.
- Implement strategies to minimize line-side disruptions and optimize material flow.
Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of stored materials to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Monitor the condition of inventory items, identify any potential issues, and take appropriate corrective actions.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate regular reports on inventory levels, material usage, and warehouse performance metrics.
- Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with warehouse team members, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, production, and shipping, to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in logistics or warehouse management are a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in warehouse operations, with a focus on inventory management and line-side logistics.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (Oracle Netsuite) and inventory control processes.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) on a regular basis.
- Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various warehouse conditions, including temperature fluctuations.
