We are currently seeking a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer in Richardson, TX with analog and digital design experience. The Senior Principal Electrical Engineer is a lead position responsible for clean-sheet and upgrade electronic solutions across multiple programs and disciplines. The Senior Principal Electrical Engineer will function as a board design subject matter expert (SME) and mentor other engineers with various backgrounds in circuit card, firmware, software and systems design providing guidance and support across programs. Products are typically required to comply with various MIL standards including MIL-STD-461. This opportunity is targeted toward engineers who enjoy working in a systems environment as it includes designing multiple electrical elements of a product; interacting with mechanical and software team members; developing PCB and system requirements; and supporting system test teams.
What You Will Do:
- Research, development, design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, ensuring work is completed on time and established quality and budgets are achieved.
- Prepare engineering drawings or specifications to construct, relocate, or install equipment, facilities, products, or systems.
- Conduct in-depth reviews of schematics and layouts for other engineers, as needed, providing detailed findings that instruct the engineer of acceptable solutions and explain why original circuitry needed to change
- Prepare documentation including confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, information on product development, introduction schedules, product costs, and performance weaknesses to track progress and analyze performance.
- Perform engineering work and applied research, development, and design of new products to ensure quality standards and business objectives are met
- Produce products according to specifications, using the most cost effective and efficient means.
- Analyze and evaluate new or improved electronic components.
- Includes power generation, transmission and distribution, rotating machinery, illumination, wire communication systems and servomechanisms.
- Includes circuit theory, computer design and development, instrumentation, radio communications, semiconductor devices, solid state devices, and video systems.
- Mentors newer engineers across disciplines and program leadership in design and development practices.
- Some domestic travel may be required.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
- Experience with new architecture development
- Ability to communicate with vendors requirements and specifications to facilitate the quote and design of new hardware
- The ability to train and mentor early-career engineers
- Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
- Good communication skills and the ability to tailor to audience at all levels.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- An active DoD clearance is preferred
- Experience with pre-CAD circuit design, including schematic capture, power, FPGA resource utilization, background knowledge of PWB stacks ups
- Experience in industry design tools, i.e. Xpedition Enterprise, Cadence Allegro, etc.
- Experience with mixed signal design. One or more of the following: SoC/FPGAs, A/D Converters, Digital Down Converters, D/A Converters, Digital Waveform Generators, Mixed Signal CCAs, Mixed Signal Modules and Subsystems
- Experience with digital hardware design. One or more of the following: Subsystem/M
