IT Concepts is seeking a SCCM/MECM Engineer who will support several projects at a federal agency. The position is located in Woodlawn, MD. The qualified candidate should have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with sharp attention to detail.

Overview:

  • The Infrastructure Management & Virtualization Branch (IMVB) is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the Agency’s Data Center Virtualization Infrastructure (DCVI).
  • Additionally, IMVB also manages the infrastructure that supports the Agency’s virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI), various lab infrastructures, and regional Office infrastructures. These platforms are the foundation for thousands of virtual servers and desktops that handle much of the Agency’s critical workload.
  • IMVB is also responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the systems management and monitoring solutions for the Agency. The Configuration Management infrastructure has servers in all four SDPs and supports software distribution, patching, and compliance reporting for over 140,000 systems.
  • The Operations Manager monitoring infrastructure provides monitoring, alerts, and reporting for critical systems in the Agency.

Activities:

  • SCCM Engineer will provide third-level technical support for MECM and MS SQL as they relate to the SSA’s MECM Current Branch or System Center Operations Manager (OpsMan) infrastructure.
  • They will perform and coordinate routine upgrades and preventative maintenance for the SCCM infrastructure
  • They have to analyze the performance/scalability of the environment
  • Their Technical support activities would include; system administration; troubleshooting; networking; system security; system integration; group policy management
  • Maintain security compliance for all NIST 800-53 Rev4 to remediate devices and bring them back into compliance. Also created POAMs to remediate non-compliant devices on the network
  • Developed and implemented plans for internal controls, risk assessment/management, and CVE remediation
  • Develop system architecture documentation and process workflows as requested
  • Use the designated AD monitoring solution, OpsMan 2016, to devise, test, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance.
  • Provide third-level technical support for the distribution, download, and installation of software (COTS, third-party, and SSA-developed) via SSA’s MECM infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022 software and hardware issues related to the operation of the SSA’s MECM infrastructure servers.
  • Troubleshoot Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022 software and hardware issues related to the operation of the SSA’s infrastructure servers.
  • Analyze and maintain interaction of MECM with SSA’s AD.
  • Provide third-level support to problem records opened by end-users and representatives in CAPRS (HP Service Manager).
  • Document problems and issues so the solutions can be used for future troubleshooting.
  • Document problems using CAPRS. Extraordinary problems should be reported to the Task Manager upon recognition.
  • Analyze and document MECM in the AD environment.
  • Monitor and update the OpsMan SQL alert database on a daily basis.
  • Monitor and prune SQL database on a daily basis.
  • Maintain alerts, alert notification groups, and management packs.
  • Use Microsoft SQL Reporting Services (SRS) to prepare reports from OpsMan database.
  • Testing MECM & SQL software version and hardware upgrades in lab
  • Helping with MECM & SQL database hardware upgrades
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve common goals.
