Description
The Department of History at Georgetown University seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor in Atlantic History, for a three-year term with a start date in August 2025. The preference is for a candidate with a focus on Brazil or the Caribbean world. The successful candidate will teach a 2-3 load (two courses in Fall, three in Spring), including the Atlantic History survey course and thematic undergraduate courses at both the introductory (General Education) and upper levels, on topics to be determined by the candidate in consultation with the department. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in History in hand prior to the appointment start date.

Additional documentation and references will be requested only from selected applicants, after an initial review. First round interviews will be conducted via Zoom video conferencing. Final candidates will be invited to campus for further interviews and a job talk.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in History is required prior to appointment start date. Candidates must show strong promise of excellence in teaching as well as research.

The projected base salary range is $58,927 - 69,974. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
