About the role:

The Manufacturing Engineer II leads initiatives supporting products, processes, materials and equipment to achieve production goals. In a fast-paced, dynamic environment, this role supports multiple manufacturing processes while collaborating cross-functionally with quality and production teams.

 

The Arden Hills site supports a diverse portfolio of technologies requiring complex problem-solving. Capabilities include batteries and capacitors manufacturing, electronics, coatings, microsensors, metals processing, molding, capital equipment, sterilization and distribution. The site is expanding to produce new components and subassemblies supporting multiple locations across the Boston Scientific network.

This role requires an on-site workmode, requiring employees to work from the Arden Hills, Minnesota facility. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor equipment, machines and tools, and correct process parameters or equipment issues that result in nonconforming product, low yield or quality concerns
  • Communicate effectively with peers and management across engineering, production and quality
  • Plan, organize and prioritize daily work to meet production requirements and project timelines, aligning with management as needed
  • Troubleshoot new and existing product and process issues related to design, materials or manufacturing
  • Apply problem-solving and process improvement methodologies to moderately complex manufacturing processes across multiple product lines, ensuring root cause identification and resolution
  • Develop in-depth understanding of equipment and technology, aligning equipment performance with production outcomes
  • Train and provide work direction to operators and technicians
  • Recognize quality signals and escalate appropriately using quality system tools
  • Incorporate business policies and procedures into task execution
    Identify, implement and manage equipment requirements to support production objectives under general direction
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to design, procure and fabricate equipment, tooling and fixtures
  • Leverage existing and emerging technologies to meet business needs
  • Design and coordinate standard engineering tests and experiments
  • Analyze data, summarize findings and draw conclusions from test resultsLead small- to moderate-scope project teams as needed
  • Partner with R&D, process development, quality, production, regulatory, equipment engineering and supply chain to ensure project success
  • Contribute to new product development and product support activities, including process capability studies, process development and validation, Six Sigma and value improvement projects

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, biomedical, chemical or manufacturing
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes effectively
  • Strong collaboration, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences
