Job Summary:
Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, troubleshoots, and tests space and fiber optic production/development hardware. Working with electro-optical-mechanical systems, sub-systems, units, control devices and associated test equipment where complete specifications and design details are frequently lacking.
*1st Shift – 5:00AM – 2:30PM (9/80, Schedule A) – El Segundo, CA. This position is an onsite role. *
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Works from preliminary design drawings, sketches, schematics, oral and written instructions. Requires the interpretation and application of experience and judgement to determine the most appropriate method to correlate design and development requirements.
Determines methods and sequence of operations to fabricate, assemble, troubleshoot, and test electro-mechanical systems, sub-systems, units control devices and associated test equipment as specified by engineers.
Assists engineers in the design of chassis and optical test equipment, exercising technical judgment in establishing details, selecting components, and making substitutions.
Fabricates, assembles, calibrates, troubleshoots, and tests standard, special or improvised instruments and test equipment requiring electro-optical-mechanical experience and skill to obtain accurate results.
May use hand and power tools and equipment as necessary to perform required tasks, as well as setting up and operating a wide variety of standard and specialized opto-electronic test equipment in conducting/performing tests.
Diagnose the cause of malfunctions and make necessary adjustments, as well as helping personnel in lower related job classifications.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience in a manufacturing environment or test operations (includes military training in assembly/testing processes).
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in fiber splicing and connector attachment for all types of optical fiber using both hand and automated tooling.
Individuals with a current Secret Clearance is desired.

Additional Information:
The hourly range for this role is $26.57 to $44.87. The hourly range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
This position is part of a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and workplace conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement. Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union.
