About the role
Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Central Scheduler for Patient Access Services as a full-time job in Nashville, Tennessee.
Shift Available: M-F between the hours of 7am-5pm
Central Scheduler Roles & Responsibilities:
- Schedules/Pre-Registers procedures for OR, SDS, PAT, CLI and Ancillary services
- Liaison between the OR and physician offices for scheduling procedures and ancillary services
- Enters demographic and insurance information correctly and in a timely manner in both PHS and STAR
- Willingly assists physicians as needed in an efficient manner.
- Ensures all messages are verified and returned to the appropriate party within 24 hours.
- Uses proper telephone and customer service etiquette when communicating with physicians, patients, visitors, internal and external customers Courteously receives, greets and directs patients, visitors and staff as needed.
- Performs clerical duties in accordance with procedures of assigned department as outlined in Policy and Procedure Manual
- Utilizes EasyLink to ensure orders are properly processed and filed in the correct folder for retrieval upon registration.

Department Responsibilities
- Fulfills responsibilities to department and co-workers and shows initiative in increasing skills.
- Attends called meetings and communicate accurate and pertinent information.
- Demonstrates promptness in reporting for work and in completing assignments.
- Demonstrates initiative in increasing skills; attends training programs as required.
- Provides assistance to new employees as needed.
- Recognizes situations necessitate supervision/guidance; seeks appropriate resources.
- Suggest ideas for Performance Improvement
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year relevant clerical experience, healthcare preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
- Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette required
- Solid knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficient computer skills; internet, typing, data entry
- High School Diploma (Equivalent) or Higher
