Jobs in this career family cultivate external donors, develop and maintain business partnerships and relationships, and solicit gifts to the University. Functions include corporate and foundation relations, annual gift giving, capital campaigns, trust and bequests, solicitation research, program development, and events planning or alumni relations when the primary focus is for development purposes.
Principal Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed at an advanced or expert level. Principal Professionals are either work leads over others or are considered a subject matter expert in a particular area.
Responsible for the ongoing leadership and oversight of fundraising for a department, including the development of strategies and processes and accountability for services provided.
Job Purpose
The Director of Development is a strategic leader responsible for cultivating and strengthening philanthropic relationships to advance the organization's mission. This position will focus on the Colorado School of Public Health. This person will be a thought partner for the Dean of the School for all fundraising. This person will work with faculty, staff, alumni, board members, community leaders, and third-party organizations to create experiences that will cultivate annual, major, and principal gifts.
