Overview
We are seeking a new Radiology Director to oversee Radiology and Imaging Services at University of Utah Health, Hospitals and Clinics.
This newly developed position will direct system-wide operations, strategy, and services within the following areas of radiology and imaging:
- X-Ray
- X-Ray for Community Clinics
- Ultrasound
- Ultrasound for Community Clinics
- CT
Qualified applicants must have completed:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, a clinical field, a related area, or the equivalency.
- Six (6) years of progressively more responsible leadership and strategic planning experience.
The additional background below will also be preferred for this role:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a related area.
- ARRT registration in a related modality.
- Practice management experience in a health care setting.
This role leads and manages the assigned modalities within Radiology Services, focusing on developing and implementing operational strategies and priorities in collaboration with other department leaders. This position reports directly to Associate Executive Director of Radiology Services for University of Utah Health.
The main responsibilities include participating in strategic planning and leadership activities, overseeing projects and financial goals for key services, and analyzing operational performance to recommend improvements. Additionally, the role involves evaluating current and proposed systems and procedures using data from technology, industry trends, and financial objectives to enhance business performance and process improvement, aiming to create a division of excellence.
The position supports financial, quality, and patient-centered goals by providing strategic input and presenting reports to executives and department heads. Although it does not involve direct patient care, it includes managing human resources, customer/patient services, and financial planning for the affected areas to ensure quality and continuity of service.

Responsibilities
Job Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Leads in developing strategies and implements plans to improve and standardize all aspects of clinical operations within the Radiology environment.
- Works with department and organizational leadership to establish and achieve long range goals, ensuring the implementation of strategic business plans that are aligned with the vision, strategic plans, and goals of the organization.
- Ensures healthy and collaborative relationships among the faculty and staff within the department, and with other related departments and leaders.
- Develops effective, clear, and precise methods of communicating with executive leadership and with other departmental leaders, clinical faculty, and staff on a regular basis.
- Continuously assesses and improves efficiency of clinical systems and processes within each area, in collaboration with the departmental leadership.
- Partners with key stakeholders across the organization to create operational standards specific to Radiology services.
- Develops and launches new strategic initiatives, particularly in the areas of clinical strategy and operations.
- Leads, participates in, or oversees special projects, as assigned by leadership.
- Works in close partnership with the Director of Radiology - Oncology Imaging to address and resolve problems for imaging operations across the health system.
