The Role:
The Senior Hardware Engineer will be a part of the technology team leading Canary Sensors product development. This individual will lead and mentor other tech team members on the development of new hardware and support of existing hardware at Project Canary. This individual should have the heart of a teacher and enjoy sharing the reasons behind the decisions with junior engineers. This individual will make significant contributions to the architecture, design choices and implimentation of Canary Sensor products. This work will include but is not limited to electrical schematic design, PCB layout, assessment of new technology, manufacturing support, field implementation plans, etc.
This individual will be intimately involved with circuit design, component selection, and PCB design. They will provide insight into circuit-level testing, hardware bring-up, and rapid prototyping. The role will require superior people skills, collaboration, problem-solving abilities, and a focus on hardware operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics design and development, battery management, testing and troubleshooting, as well as system level prototyping and the transition of designs into manufacturing.
Job Responsibilities:
· Designing and developing hardware components including circuit boards, and next-gen components
· Testing hardware components individually and in tandem with external teams
· Mentor more junior engineers helping guide their skillset and career development
· Fully own the development and documentation of the PCB design, testing and release process
· Circuit design for new sensor suites (analog and digital design expertise)
· Schematic capture, PCB Layout or layout review using professional design tools such as Altium
· Hardware bring-up and V&V testing on new product designs
· Creating specifications and documentation for components and complete sensor systems
· Collaborating with Firmware and Software developers for product development and test
Requirements
· Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or a related field
· 7+ years of experience in a similar role
· Analytical thinking with good problem-solving abilities
· Extensive knowledge of board-level electronics and electrical systems
· 5+ years experience in PCB design
· Experience in RF Design, LTE, CAT-M
· Experience in IoT Devices
· Experience in Solar powered devices and battery management.

- Salary range: $120,000 - $160,000 annual base
- Hybrid work environment - Must come into the office at least 3-days a week
