The Team:
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is in a period of significant growth and is increasing access to specialised mental health care for children and young people in Tasmania.
CYMHS Extended Team is made up of three new mental health programs in the areas of Youth (16-24), Out-of-Home Care, and Youth Forensic. The Clinical Lead works across these programs to support strong clinical governance and manage service access to help ensure children and young people receive the right care, at the right place, at the right time. The role is based at 16-18 Watchorn Street in the Hobart CBD.
The Role:
As a senior member of a designated CYMHS Multidisciplinary Team, the Clinical Lead:
- Contributes to the establishment, operationalization, delivery, and continuing improvement of contemporary and integrated models of care for children and/or young people who are experiencing/at risk of mental health difficulties.
- Provides leadership and contributes to strategic management, clinical decision making and sound clinical governance within CYMHS Extended Multidisciplinary Teams.
- Acts as a consultant to other health professionals, other Statewide Mental Health Services staff, and Agencies in respect to the assessment and management of CYMHS clients with mental health issues/concerns.
You will need:
- Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to manage and coordinate the clinical activities of a multidisciplinary mental health service with the ability to assist the Team Leader in relation to the effective management of human and physical resources, which also includes the provision of supervision and support to other staff as required.
- A comprehensive knowledge of contemporary approaches to child and youth mental health services, together with extensive experience working as a senior health professional in relevant clinical practice settings.
- Proven ability to actively and effectively contribute to quality improvement and safety processes at the individual service level.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: Allied Health professional, Level 4
$123,717 to $130,900 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022
