SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting all procurement functions. The Purchasing Intern communicates internally with other procurement team members, client-facing groups, as well as externally with suppliers to ensure needed items are procured and received according to client expectations.  The Purchasing intern will be responsible for assigned projects and tasks.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Work with Procurement Specialists and Leads to identify tasks needing completion
•    Communicate promptly any material quality or delivery issues, investigate accordingly and suggest solutions 
•    Track and follow-up on Purchase Orders
•    Communicate with suppliers to request Purchase Order status and follow-up accordingly  
•    Update material Lead Times in ERP
•    Generate reports and compile data summaries
•    Distribute mass mailings to suppliers and log responses accordingly 
•    Mass load updates into ERP and/or P2P platform
•    Request quotes from suppliers for new parts & price updates
•    Update any price changes in ERP
•    Help to identify and develop material savings opportunities that generate cost saving
•    Work in a team environment requiring regular interaction with Managers, Site Leads, Inventory Planners, Sourcing, Accounting, Data Integrity, and Quality to complete assigned supply chain tasks
•    Build effective and strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers 
•    Perform other related duties as assigned


MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

Education and/or Experience
•    Current college student with an accredited college in a related discipline with 1 year work experience.  

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
•    Effective oral and written communication skills

•    Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook
•    Accuracy and attention to detail
•    Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects.
•    Strong data entry skills
•    Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality
•    Ability to work well individually and in a team environment
•    Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions


Computer Skills
•    Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite with demonstrated intermediate proficiency in Excel (Able to work with pivot tables, use lookup formulas, etc.)

 

Language Skills
•    English (reading, writing, verbal)

 

Mathematical Skills
Intermediate

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Knowledge of Purchasing & Inventory Control theories, principles and practices
•    College course work in Supply Chain Management or Business
•    ERP system experience
