WORKING TITLE: WORKERS’ COMPENSATION INVESTIGATOR

SPECIAL NOTES:

Four (4) years of investigative or regulatory experience is required.  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required work experience.

 

Additional requirements:

  • The ability to perform physical activities such as climbing stairs and/or walking on uneven/unlevel grounds (i.e. construction sites) in various outdoor weather conditions (i.e. temperatures below 40°and above 90°)
  • Licensed to operate a motor vehicle. 

 

Preferences:

  • One (1) or more years of workers' compensation experience.
  • One (1) or more years of experience writing detailed chronological reports.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience conducting face-to-face fact-finding interviews.
  • Experience conducting on-site inspections of various types of businesses.
  • Bi-lingual with the ability to fluently speak and write Spanish and English.

 

This position will conduct investigations from the central field office.

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. 

 

The starting salary for this position is $48,000.00 (Plus $1,268.76 CAD). This position receives a Competitive Area Differential (CAD). Regarding anticipated starting salary, the Division of Workers’ Compensation typically hires at or near the minimum, unless an incumbent possesses direct and relevant experience in the job that they are a candidate for.  The Division is prepared to negotiate the salary depending upon the candidates direct and relevant experience.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of methods of data collection, analysis and data interpretation; how to conduct an interview; problem solving techniques and fact finding investigations; planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments; Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing stairs and/or walking on uneven/unlevel grounds (i.e. construction sites) in various outdoor weather conditions (i.e. temperatures below 40°and above 90°); work independently, plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; prepare and generate clear and understandable oral and written communication; prepare and maintain reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; dealing with the public in a tactful and courteous manner; use keyboard controlled data input devices; to meet performance expectations; use various Microsoft programs and applications; obtain and maintain a valid Florida driver license; operate a motor vehicle (car).
