JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Pennsylvania Integrated Pest Management (PA IPM) program is hiring an Extension Program Specialist. The Extension Program Specialist provides educational resources, programs, and assistance to extension educators and clientele on integrated pest management programs; collaborates on development of new information and dissemination of new research findings; coordinates and supports research and extension activities related to grants and/or projects; and participates in program planning teams and/or committees.
Specifically, the Extension Program Specialist will:
Provide educational resources, programs, and assistance for a variety of extension educators and clientele.
Secure grants, and conduct and report research to support statewide or national extension programs.
Coordinate research and extension activities related to specific grants and/or projects.
Stay abreast of current and emerging issues through research, professional development; attend and present at conferences, professional associations, etc.; disseminate information to extension educators.
Develop or update publications, fact sheets, websites, and/or presentations for use by extension educators or clientele.
Organize and present workshops and/or in-service training for extension educators or clientele.
Participate in program planning teams and committees.
Respond to requests from various governmental agencies seeking information necessary to make decisions that ultimately affect stakeholders.
Respond to inquiries from partners; local, state, and federal agencies; media; and the general public about pest issues.
Maintain and grow a partnership of cross-sector partners.
May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management.
This position will be based in Philadelphia. (Note: this position has been affiliated with Penn State Extension and its office in Philadelphia County, which is currently seeking a new location. When that location is established, this position is expected to be hybrid with the extension office as the home base. Until the office is established, the position is fully remote.)
