About New Norcia ground station (WA)

New Norcia Deep Space Tracking Facility has been in operation since 2003 and is one of the three stations in the European Space Agency’s Estrack network. The station currently has a 35-metre and a 4.5-metre antenna, with a second 35-metre, NNO-3, to be commissioned this year. As part of our expansion, we are seeking enthusiastic candidates who are willing to learn, to add to our capabilities and to embark on a rewarding career in the space industry.

The expansion of our New Norcia Deep Space Tracking Facility has opened up doors for a seasoned technician, an aspiring engineer, or just a newbie starting out after high school to contribute to cutting-edge missions that reach far beyond Earth.

We’re on the lookout for passionate and talented individuals ready to strengthen the operations of our specialised station by being a part of the critical day to day maintenance and providing support with logistics and engaging with colleagues in Europe at the ESA headquarters, while working closely with the systems for configuration and asset management for the station.

 

We are particularly interested in applicants who are keen to demonstrate and/or develop their technical aptitude in either mechanical or electronics and enthusiastic to join and build a career in the space industry.

Your duties will include (varies depending on your role): 

Join a dedicated team where you’ll contribute to vital technical and operational duties tailored to your skill level. Whether you're experienced or just starting out, comprehensive training and support will be provided to help you succeed.

 

  • Technical and maintenance support - Perform supervised technical tasks like maintenance on IT, RF, and electronic systems, including working at heights on antennas.
  • Installation assistance - Help with cable, fibre, and electronics instal
