About the role

Description

 

The Assistant Developmental Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring smooth, day-to-day operations within a designated adult services center. This leadership position supports both the Developmental Specialist and direct-care staff, maintaining high-quality service delivery for adults with developmental disabilities. The Assistant Developmental Specialist is responsible for staff development, service coordination, and regulatory compliance to ensure the center operates efficiently and effectively.


Hourly Range: $14 - $16/hour


Key Responsibilities:


Operational Oversight

· Support the Developmental Specialist in managing center operations.

· Provide shift coverage and logistical support to ensure continuity of care.

· Monitor program flow and resolve day-to-day challenges to maintain service quality.

Staff Supervision & Development

· Conduct regular staff evaluations and service observations.

· Meet with direct-care staff monthly to provide coaching and performance feedback.

· Coordinate and lead onboarding and ongoing training for paraprofessional staff.

· Ensure staff certification and compliance requirements are met.

Participant Support & Quality Assurance

· Review daily documentation and data sheets for completeness and quality.

· Consult with staff on participant progress, needs, and behavior strategies.

· Conduct weekly community-based therapy observations to assess service effectiveness.

Communication & Collaboration

· Act as a liaison between families, guardians, staff, and external agencies.

· Respond to concerns, incidents, and emergencies as the primary on-call contact outside business hours.

· Collaborate with program leadership to enhance service delivery and center performance.

Compliance & Preparedness

· Assist in preparing for internal audits, state monitoring visits, and surveys.

· Ensure program activities align with agency standards and regulatory requirements.

· Attend all required meetings and participate in at least 12 hours of ongoing training annually.


Qualifications:


Education/Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Experience in developmental disability services and team supervision preferred.

· Strong knowledge of person-centered practices and community-based supports.


Certifications & Requirements

· Must pass a background check through the Department of Health and Welfare.

· Obtain and maintain valid First Aid and CPR certification within 60 days of hire.

· Reliable transportation for travel to local service sites as needed.

· Availability for after-hours, on-call responsibilities.

Schedule:

· Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts

Work Location:

· On-site at the Rigby Adults center. This position does not allow for remote work.
