The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a undergraduate-level GNSS Communication/GNSS Engineering Intern.

In this role, you will become part of the Digital Communications Implementation Department (DCID) within the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED). Main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies, are the domain of the CTED. DCID contains the corporation’s technical leaders in leveraging software-defined radios and FPGA technology to develop advanced communication and navigation system prototypes that solve our customer’s most challenging problems. Work Model:

This position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and implement advanced signal processing algorithms with applications to GPS/GNSS receivers, signals of opportunity, communication transceivers and/or digital signal processing primarily on FPGA hardware
  • Test hardware including GNSS Receivers/Simulators and Military Communication Devices
  • Work as an individual or as a team member on analytical and experimental studies
  • Document work products in briefings and/or technical reports to customers and colleagues
  • Interface with Aerospace internal customers for the exchange of technical information
  • Work dynamically during the internship on multiple projects
  • Training and mentorship will be provided

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a undergrad degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline  
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship.
  • Sophomore class standing by internship start date.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Coursework or experience with development and/or use of computer code and/or technical software tools such as C/C++, Python, or MATLAB
  • Experience working within Unix/Linux programming environments
  • Coursework or experience in communications theory, DSP, GNSS systems or embedded hardware
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Transcripts required 

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: 

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Active security clearance 
  • Experience with signal processing, either analog or digital
  • Direct experience with hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog
  • Experience in a lab environment with test equipment
  • Interest in and/or working knowledge of SDR, GNU Radio, DSP, machine learning, FPGA design, or algorithm development

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$25.00 - $26.00 - $28.00

Pay Basis: Hourly
