Job Description

Reports directly to the Executive Director, Chief of Staff for Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. This Medical Device Communications role drives an internal and external communications strategy for the Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs global organization and functional programs. Enhance the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs brand and provide consistent messaging to employees and stakeholders for transformational medical device programs.

Leads the development execution monitoring and measurement of various corporate communications education initiatives and works closely with the other communications teams. Develops and implements complex communication plans for internal and external audiences in support of major projects and initiatives.

Job Duties

  • Create and manage a communication strategy and execution to support the Corporate Quality Office and Regulatory Affairs across various platforms to act as a vehicle to share information at a corporate level.
  • Communication forums include but are not limited to Company Intranet, Company-wide Broadcast, Board of Directors, investor relations communication, and Town Hall meetings.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to develop and manage multi-faceted complex communications plans for internal and external audiences that support major QARA projects and initiatives.
  • Builds and strengthens internal communications to help drive employee engagement and culture raise awareness of the Olympus corporate position and story across the enterprise and enhance understanding of Olympus' brand attributes.
  • Develop and maintain reporting metrics to determine the effectiveness of communication strategy impact
  • Proactively creates enhancements and improvements based on key insights and learnings.
  • Serves as a senior writer and editor of all Olympus QARA internal communications vehicles.
  • Reviews and edits written communications as needed for all of QARA.
  • Work closely with executive management on the creation and delivery of presentations and other executive communications.
  • Adheres to all corporate legal and regulatory practices and policies.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience providing leadership in Corporate Communications or Public Relations working for a Global Medical Device or Pharmaceutical company is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in English Journalism PR or Communications or equivalent required; MBA a plus.
  • Expertise in written communications (writing editing and proofreading) that accurately and effectively drives understanding and engagement among key audiences is required. 
  • Extensive knowledge of communications platforms and outlets required.
  • Knowledge of the Healthcare industry (e.g., medical device pharmaceutical healthcare administration, etc.). 
  • Experience managing external agency partners/ vendors preferred. 
  • Superior oral written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management throughout the organization are essential. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills ability to work cross-functionally with a collaborative flexible and team-oriented style with the ability to persuade others a must. 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to organize and prioritize workload in a dynamic fast-paced environment. 
  • Innovative and creative with a keen ability to digest complex content resulting in communications that are appropriate for all audiences. 
  • Proven ability to create engaging experiences in a variety of formats including town halls websites presentations events etc. 
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines is essential.
  • Availability for meetings and travel outside typical working hours.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant Microsoft Office Suite software Must have PC knowledge including Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint.
