Role:
The Insurance Client Service Representative (CSR) plays a vital role in supporting Empower Federal Credit Union's insurance operations. This position provides administrative, customer service, and sales support to Credit Union members, Select Employer Groups, and the general public. The CSR is expected to be knowledgeable across all Empower Insurance Services (EIS) product lines, with a primary focus on Property & Casualty insurance. The role emphasizes relationship-building, retention of in-force business, and assisting agents in generating new sales opportunities.
The hourly pay range for this position is: $19.27-$28.90
This position is based in Syracuse, New York and requires full-time, on-site presence at our Empower FCU Insurance offices.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
40% Client Service & Administration:
- Provide high-quality customer service to clients and prospects.
- Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in all interactions.
- Complete transactions properly and maintain organized records.
- Respond to inquiries and resolve basic service issues.
25% Sales Support:
- Assist Insurance Agents in writing new business.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling.
- Support marketing efforts and client outreach initiatives.
20% Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Promote retention of in-force business through personalized service.
- Follow up on renewals and policy changes to ensure client satisfaction.
10% Teamwork & Culture:
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Utilize effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Participate in training, marketing campaigns, and Credit Union committee activities.
5% Other Duties:
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Adapt to evolving responsibilities and organizational needs.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: 1 to 3 years of related experience in insurance, customer service, or financial services.
Education: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school, or equivalent practical work experience.
Licensing: Must obtain Property & Casualty or Personal Lines license within 90 days of hire or role transition. License must be maintained.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

- Strong time management and organizational abilities to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain accurate documentation.
- High attention to detail with proficiency in billing, figures, and calculations.
- Ability to interpret complex insurance coverage and underwriting guidelines.
