What You'll Be Doing
Job Scope: The Technology Engineer role contributes to the long-term economic success of the plants via automation, process optimization, process safety, capital projects, and troubleshooting. It requires working with a broad range of people, including members of the operations team, maintenance, laboratory services, EHS, process controls group, engineering and more.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Applying your strong understanding of process engineering concepts and their applications, and practical experience in plant troubleshooting, you will work with plant personnel and contractors to conduct plant trials, develop projects, drive EHS improvements, and troubleshoot plant problems.
Experience in process control, field equipment and DCS/PLC Control Systems is an asset, as you are responsible for working with process control personnel to develop and implement automation strategies, including improvements to alarm management, basic process control via the DCS, as well as optimization of the HMI.
Utilizing your knowledge of OSHA, EPA, TCEQ and other applicable code and regulations and standards, you will contribute to the safety processes and environmental processes in the utilities areas, as well as be responsible for maintaining the plant safety concept, facilitating PHAs, managing process safety information (PSI), completing MOCs for proposed changes, and supporting capital project safety reviews.
Your demonstrated leadership experience within a matrix organization and excellent communication skills will be essential, as you help drive continuous improvement in the plant, by identifying and tracking key operating parameters, facilitating data collection and evaluation of benchmarks, generating new optimization ideas, as well as validating and tracking ideas that are implemented.
Ideal Background
Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in a chemical manufacturing environment and prior man-rep experience required for capital projects

Knowledge of design standards and codes.
Knowledge, application and specification of piping materials.
Development of piping material and material procurement specifications.
Knowledge of good design practices for sizing all piping systems.
Sizing of compressible fluid piping systems.
Flexibility and stress analysis of moderately complex piping systems.
Specify criteria for and select piping specialty items.
Design of moderately complex process and utility piping systems.
Knowledge of manual valve sizing, use and application.
Knowledge of application of piping supports and restraints.
Identification of need, application and specification of safety valves and devices to maintain the mechanical integrity of piping systems.
Identification of need, application and specification of steam traps and liquid drainers.
Estimating piping related construction quantities from conceptual documents.
Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of design efforts.<
