Job Description:

The Operation Research (OR) group within UPS creates software and algorithms that model and refine business processes within the company. Our cross-functional team of developers and research analysts strives to identify new technologies and approaches to improve the efficiency, reliability, and profitability of the company. The group achieves its goals through technical expertise paired with strong collaboration and creative problem-solving skills.  The OR Development group focuses on the integration of the optimizations into product systems to allow for usage and benefits to be applied within the operations.  Our teams work closely with the Product Owners and IT development groups for these efforts.  

 

The OR group welcomes versatile software developers with initiative and interest in tackling business problems to apply and join our growing, well-established team.   This is a great opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects that directly impact the future competitiveness of UPS!

 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Participates in all areas of lifecycle development
• Contributes to the process of designing, prototyping and development to support the integration of optimizations into established IT systems
• Contributes to the maintenance and support of existing tools
• Assists in the analysis of business needs

Knowledge and Skills

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
• Experience with one of the following languages: Java or C#

Preferred:

• Experience with GCP and Webservices
• Knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design
• 1+ years' programming experience (Internship experience can be included)
• Interest in learning new things and solving problems
• Good communication skills
