The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience is dedicated to high quality education, excellence in patient care, and advancing the science through clinical trials and ongoing collaborative research. The department supports clinical care and career development in multiple disciplines.

 

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience is recruiting a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join our team supporting UC Health’s multispecialty Weight Loss Center.  Our behavioral health team focuses on the mental health assessment and behavioral treatment of patients seeking weight loss treatment.  The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated interest and experience in providing evidence-based mental health care in a multidisciplinary weight management team.  The UC Health Weight Loss Center is a fast paced, intellectually stimulating, innovative environment.  

 

This a 100% (1.00 FTE) clinical position. 

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for all behavioral health programming for UCH Weight Loss Center at West Chester Hospital, UCH Medical Center and in UCH Transplant-Related Interdisciplinary Metabolic Surgery (TRIMS) in the Transplant Division, Department of Surgery.
  • Directs development of clinical protocols, monitoring outcomes, supervision of clinical providers, coordination of care with outside mental health clinicians and ensuring quality of care, patient satisfaction and adherence to requirements of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Center of Excellence requirements.
  • Functions as a member of interdisciplinary treatment team including consultation/attendance at clinical case conferences and other interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings.
  • Provides mental health assessment, diagnosis, consultation, treatment and related psychological services. to persons with obesity in medical, surgical and transplant programs including:
    • pre-surgical psychosocial assessments;
    • post-surgical assessment and brief health and behavioral intervention and/or cognitive behavioral therapy in group or individual format as indicated;
    • evaluation and brief health and behavioral intervention and/or cognitive behavioral therapy for medical (non-surgical) weight loss patients; 
    • cognitive behavioral therapy in individual and group format for patients with binge eating disorder or related disordered eating behavior.

Minimum Requirements

Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse:

Required Education

Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program.

 

Required Trainings/Certifications

Current/valid RN license to practice in the state of Ohio.

 

Required Education

Three (3) years nursing experience.

Physician Assistant:

Required Education

Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies.

 

Required Trainings/Certifications

Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and current/valid license in the state of Ohio prior to start.
